Speeches

New Delhi, 20 Dec, 2015 My speech during “Sangit Samman Award” “Traditions 2015” “Akhil Bhartiya Pratibha Puraskar” and ‘Delhi Pratibha Puraskar”

“soldiers of culture and literature” should not get influenced by “dirty politics” and there is need to convert art and pen into a “weapon” for peace, harmony and development in the country.

the intellectual community of the society including artists, writers and others should contribute to take forward wave of development in the country. If these intellectuals get influenced by “politically-motivated propaganda” and knowingly-unknowingly become a part of conspiracy to block the nation’s development journey, then this will not only affect the nation’s image but also that of the awards given to them for their own achievements .

writers, artists belonging to any field, give a new direction to the society, they provide positive impact on the society through their pen and their talent. A number of writers and other artists have made significant contribution to the nation building and social reforms.

there is no doubt that these writers and other artists do not work to get only an award or fame but they use their pen and their talent for nation building.Various governments and other organizations award these people in recognition to their service to the nation. Awards also strengthen their mission of giving positive message to the society. These intellectuals should take care of dignity of the awards given to them.

the country witnessed unfortunate situation few days ago when some writers and artists returned their awards on the issue of so-called intolerance. This “award returning campaign” was part of a “fabricated political propaganda” by the opponents of the BJP for the Bihar elections. That campaign ended with the election results. Shri Naqvi said that it has now become crystal clear that the “award returning campaign” was a completely politically-motivated campaign. It was part of a negative agenda against the Centre’s Modi Government to block the country’s development journey. Tolerance, brotherhood, social harmony is in the ‘dna’ of India and its people. Nobody can destroy it.

we can see the dangerous form of intolerance in Syria, Pakistan and other countries where innocent children are being killed in their schools, people are being killed while offering namaz, and people are being beheaded in front of camera. I want to ask those raising the issue of so-called intolerance, is there any such situation in India? Conspiracy to create communal and social tension has been failed since the Modi Government came to power last year.

the incidents in Dadri, Karnataka or Faridabad cannot be justified. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi strongly condemned these unfortunate and disgusting incidents but the Congress and its allies gave political colour to these incidents and tried to build an atmosphere of tension in the society.

I appealed to the intellectuals, writers, artists to help in carrying forward the wave of development in the country. They should help in tackling any negative thinking in the society; they should contribute in national interest. If we have to save the nation from any conspiracy to derail its development journey, then every section of the society will have to come forward. Efforts of poets, writers, artists and other intellectuals will be crucial in this regard.
