My Speech on occasion of Jashn-e-Usttad at New Delhi on 05.10.2015

Union Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla ji and other friends gathered here on this occasion.
We have to protect welfare and concerns of Minorities of the country from becoming a victim of narrow-minded politics of self-proclaimed champions of secularism.
Time has come to stop hurting sentiments for votes- people of the country have repeatedly been giving this message and lesson to political champions of secularism.

It is the responsibility of all of us to protect safety and socio-economic concerns of people of the country especially Minorities, narrow political interests should not be allowed to come into the way of fulfilling this responsibility.

After coming to power, the Modi Government has taken several steps for over-all development of underprivileged, dalits, poor sections including Minorities.

“Usttad” scheme is one of the important measures taken for welfare of the minorities especially Muslim community.
“Usttad” scheme will be helpful in providing a platform to publicize and showcase traditional skills, arts and crafts of Minority communities. This initiative will provide a broad market for arts and crafts of minorities. This will also be helpful in providing better job opportunities for people engaged in these traditional arts/crafts.
During last about 16 months, the Modi Government has started several schemes for over-all development of poor sections of the society including minorities. These programmes have started yielding results. It is our commitment to provide benefits of these schemes directly to Minorities.
Schemes such as “Mission Empowerment”, “Usttad”, “Hamari Dharohar”, “Manas”, “Nayi Manzil”, “Padho Pardesh”, “Sikho aur Kamao” and “Nayi Raushni” have ensured socio-economic-educational development of minorities including Muslims. These schemes are also helpful in skill development of these communities.
“Usttad” (Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) is an ambitious programme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

“Usttad” will not only encourage traditional skills of minorities but also link them with market for better livelihood. The scheme aims at capacity building and updating the traditional skills of master craftsmen and artisans.

There is a need to showcase skill talent of minorities before the entire world be it Chikankari of Lucknow, embroidery of Varanasi, brass work of Muradabad, Phulkari of Punjab, handicrafts of North-East and Bidri work of Karnataka. “Usttad” will be helpful in useful in this regard.
Our Government is taking measures to provide a platform to the craftsmen to showcase their traditional skills to the world.

Progress of poor people including Minorities is priority of our Government. Our Ministry has taken steps keeping in mind socio-economic-educational development of minority communities.

We are also reviewing different schemes started earlier so that we can know how much people have been benefitted through these schemes. It will also help us in chalking out new programmes.

There is also a need for review and appropriate changes in various schemes keeping in mind the latest census data.

The book “India’s Creative Continuum- Minority Communities in Craft” will also play a significant role in publicity of traditional arts and crafts of minorities.

The Modi Government has been working with honesty for development of Minorities especially Muslims. Some political parties who were master in political exploitation of Minorities, they are not able to digest our Government’s commitment to development of all.

The BJP Government is moving ahead with commitment to inclusive growth under strong leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi so that progress of every section, every person is ensured irrespective of his religion. India’s unit is the strength of progress and if this unity is broken, this will destroy of fabric of development.
The Modi Government is working with commitment to good governance. No obstacle will be able to successful in the way of good governance and development. We can’t compromise with safety and harmony of the country.

Intention of the BJP is very clear and it is to take the country ahead on development path. We believe in politics of development, positive politics. We condemn “divisive politics” which creates confrontation in the society.
