Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today early morning flagged off 1st batch of Haj pilgrims from Gujarat from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here.

On the occasion, Shri Naqvi said that Haj pilgrimage is a cherished desire of every Muslim in his life time.

Shri Naqvi wished that may this Haj pilgrimage strengthen the message of peace, prosperity and harmony in our country and the entire world. He also wished the evil forces, who want to disturb peace and harmony in the world, get destroyed.

Gujarat Civil Aviation Minister Shri Babubhai Bokhiria, Women and Child Welfare Minister Smt Nirmala Wadhwani, Gujarat Haj Committee Chairman Mohd. Ali Kadri and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

In the first batch from Gujarat, a total of 300 Haj pilgrims went to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this morning. About 7500 people will go to Haj from Gujarat.

For Haj 2016, about 1,00,020 Haj pilgrims have been facilitated from 21 points across India through Haj Committee. Apart from this, 36,000 Haj pilgrims have been proceeding through the private tour operators.

Shri Naqvi said that adequate arrangements have been done at 21 centres in India and also in Saudi Arabia for facilities and safety of Haj pilgrims. Shri Naqvi said that he himself has been monitoring these arrangements.
