New Delhi, 14 July, 2016: My press release during a meeting with Minority Affairs Ministry's officials:

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Minority Affairs & Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that along with framing development policies on paper and computer, the officials should also visit at the ground level to fulfill the commitment of the Modi Government towards empowerment of the poor.

During a meeting of senior officials of the Minority Affairs Ministry here, Shri Naqvi said that there is a need to ensure that the Minority communities of the country also feel the environment of trust and development created by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led Government in all sectors.

Shri Naqvi said after the upcoming Parliament Session, I will take a stock of the welfare schemes aimed at socio-economic-educational empowerment of Minorities at “ground zero” level in the states. “We have to work with complete honesty and commitment” to construct a strong building of poor’s development”. Prime Minister Shri Modi has provided a “blue print” for this and we have to construct a strong structure so that environment of prosperity and safety among the poor can be ensured and the poor can be made a part of the mainstream development process.

Shri Naqvi said that we have started to implement Centre’s welfare schemes in coordination-communication with the states. We have talked to several state governments and we will strengthen the “Mission Empowerment” by visiting various states.

Shri Naqvi said that there is no lack of funds for the welfare of Minorities. There is just a need to spend this money with honesty so that light of development reaches to the last needy person of the society. Shri Naqvi said that we will keep a close eye on all welfare schemes to ensure their proper implementation at the grass root level. Officials have a crucial role to play in this regard.

Shri Naqvi said that providing better education and employment opportunities to the Minorities especially youths will be my priority. “We will have to treat the issue of uplift of Minorities as a duty and not a formality”. For the last several decades, only formality was done in the name of development of Minorities. Due to this, Minorities were left behind on the path of progress and prosperity. We have to work towards empowerment of Minorities with complete honesty.
