Meerut, 21 June, 2016:Salient points of my speech at Meerut on the occasion of ''International Yoga Day''

 Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that Yoga has now become “crown of the world’s health” and we feel proud that India’s thousands years old culture has proved to be “resource of health” for the entire world and its people.

Participating in the second “International Yoga Day” with thousands ofpeople at Meerut, Shri Naqvi appealed to the people to make this “International Yoga Day” a day of “commitment to good health”. Celebration of “International Yoga Day” by the entire world community with passion and enthusiasm is an another evidence of India’s growing prestige at global level.

Congratulations to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi whose efforts have resulted into global recognition and acceptance of Yoga.

Shri Naqvi said that Yoga is more important today as human mind and body has been affected by stress and pollution. Shri Naqvi said that Yoga is the “golden key to good health” and “good health is real wealth”.

Shri Naqvi said that Yoga is not just an exercise but it is “health science”. Yoga provides energy to our body as well as our mind. It helps in maintaining a balance in our lifestyle. Yoga is the union of the individual self with the universal self. The aim of yoga is to calm the chaos of conflicting impulses.

Shri Naqvi said that he himself has been practicing Yoga for the last several years and Yoga provides benefit to people of all age groups.

Shri Naqvi said that it is not correct to link Yoga with a particular religion, region or community. Only ignorant people are looking at Yoga with “narrow mindset” . “Politics on health is harmful for health”.

Shri Naqvi said that with the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, 177 countries including 40 Islamic nations, co-sponsored a resolution in the United Nations to declare 21 June as the ''International Yoga Day''.

The world community’s decision to observe “International Yoga Day” has enhanced India’s prestige at global level.
