New Delhi, 31 Dec, 2015: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that Minority Affairs Ministry has released hundreds of crores of rupees to different states to ensure socio-economic-educational empowerment of Minorities.

Addressing media persons here, Shri Naqvi said that this money has been released under “Multi-Sectoral Development Programme” (MsDP) and other programmes by the Modi Government.

Shri Naqvi said that under MsDP, Rs 565 crores have been released to West Bengal, Rs 303 crores to Uttar Pradesh, Rs 170 crores to Assam by the Minority Affairs Ministry. Similarly crores of rupees have been sent to other states for socio-economic-educational empowerment of minorities.  He said scholarships worth about Rs 2011 crores were distributed among about 85 lakh students in 2014-15. NMDFC loans worth Rs 431 crores were given to 1.08 lakh beneficiaries.

The MsDP is aimed to address the development deficits by creating socio-economic infrastructure and providing basic amenities in Minorities concentration areas of the country. It includes construction of schools, health centres, drinking water facility, toilets, electricity, skill development, etc.

Shri Naqvi said that our effort is to take benefits of schemes meant for socio-economic-educational empowerment of Minorities. We have decided to start a campaign on a war footing for awareness regarding all the schemes in a transparent manner.

Shri Naqvi said that the Minority Affairs Ministry has formed “monitoring committee” at district and state level comprising of Members of Parliament, Members of State Assemblies, Government officials and people associated with other organizations to ensure proper monitoring of schemes and cooperation.

Shir Naqvi said that since the formation of the Narendra Modi Government last year it has been working with complete honesty and commitment to socio-economic-educational development of poor sections of the society including Minority communities and these efforts have resulted into creation of an atmosphere of trust among these sections towards the Central Government.

Shri Naqvi said that the Modi Government ‘s step to kick out “power brokers” and “middlemen” from the “power corridors” has ensured that every single paisa of the money given by the Centre for welfare of all the needy sections including the Minorities is being reached to them.

Shri Naqvi said that Minority Affairs Ministry under an able and strong leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken various welfare measures for socio-economic-educational development and over-all empowerment of Minorities; several schemes have been launched which have started yielding results at the grass root level.

Shri Naqvi said that “USTTAD”, “Hamari Dharohar”, “Nai Manzil”, “Padho Pardes”, “Seekho aur Kamao’’, “Nai Raushani”, “PM’s new 15-point programme”, “Jiyo Parsi” are not only schemes but these are honest and strong commitment of the NDA Government to development of Minorities.   

Shri Naqvi said that the “Mission Empowerment” initiated by him is an important measure for socio-economic-educational empowerment of Minorities.  Shri Naqvi said that he has visited 19 states so far under the mission which include-Kerala, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, J&K, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Karnataka, Delhi and Rajasthan.

Shri Naqvi said that the Central Government has been providing sufficient money to the states for development works after taking note of requirements of Minority concentration areas under the “Mission Empowerment”. This mission has helped in getting grass root level information regarding requirements of Minorities.

 Shri Naqvi said that the Modi Government, without any discrimination, has taken measures to take light of the development to every needy person. “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” is our mantra. The Minorities have also been moving forward on the path of development along with other sectors due to these measures.

Shri Naqvi said that some “so-called political champions of secularism” tried to create an atmosphere of fear among the people only to defame the Modi Government. But the people of the country have rejected these “ill designs”. Our Government wants to assure the people that we will not allow any negative agenda to dominate our agenda of development and good-governance.      

Shri Naqvi said that we have been moving forward with strong commitment to safety, prosperity, and dignity of the Minorities.
