My Press release regarding address at Bhavnagar, Gujarat on 23 November 2015:

Bhavnagar (Gujarat), 23 November 2015: Union Minister of State for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today expressed confidence that the Opposition including the Congress will play a positive role during the upcoming Winter Session of the Parliament on the issues related to country’s development.

While addressing a public meeting at Bhavnagar, Shri Naqvi said that the Central Government is confident that the upcoming session will be constructive and progressive. We are hopeful that the Opposition will play role of a constructive Opposition and will support the Government to pass important reform legislations which are essential for the nation’s development.

Shri Naqvi said that Bills such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2013 are crucial for the economic growth. The GST has the potential to push India's GDP by one to two per cent. GST is a historic step in the direction of tax reforms and it would immediately convert India into a one big uniform market, which will benefit all stakeholders.

The GST, besides bringing much-needed transparency in taxation, will benefit the Centre and the states equally. GST will simplify the indirect tax regime in the country and is expected to reduce cost of production and inflation in the economy, thereby making the Indian trade and industry more competitive, domestically as well as internationally.

Shri Naqvi said that the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and the Whistle Blowers Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2015 will help in fight against corruption. I am hopeful that the Opposition will support the Government on these Bills rising above party politics.

Shri Naqvi said that the Central Government is ready for a detailed and positive discussion on all the issues concerning the common man of the country. The Opposition should also respect the historic mandate given to the Modi Government in the Lok Sabha elections so that the session should be utilised for the people’s benefits. The Opposition should also become a part of the nation’s development journey.

Shri Naqvi said that the Government is committed to make the upcoming session successful and fruitful and the Government is talking to all the political parties for this purpose. An all-party meeting has been convened on November 25 to discuss smooth functioning of the Houses.

Shri Naqvi further said that NDA Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been working for country’s inclusive development and over-all progress of all the people. Political-social-economic-educational empowerment of all the needy people including minorities is our motive. Minorities have also been moving forward on the path of development along with other sections.

Shri Naqvi said that social, economic, religious rights of all the sections and religions are absolutely safe in the Modi Government.

Shri Naqvi said that social unity, harmony, brotherhood, tolerance is in the DNA of India and no unfortunate incident can damage this social fabric. We all have to keep aside our political interests to strengthen the social unity and harmony.
