New Delhi, 04th February, 2018:Salient points of my address while inaugurating one-day workshop of Minority Morcha, BJP Delhi unit:

Union Minority Affairs Minister Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that “harmony and tolerance is in the DNA of India” and this culture and commitment of harmony and tolerance is the source of India's respect and acceptance across the world.

While inaugurating a one-day workshop of BJP Delhi Minority Morcha, Shri Naqvi said that we should not allow anybody to weaken Indian culture of unity and brotherhood under any circumstances. Shri Naqvi said that some forces want to disturb the country's peace and harmony. We all have to work together to defeat any such nefarious conspiracy.

Shri Naqvi said that the BJP and the Modi Government have been working with commitment to inclusive development and empowerment without any discrimination.

Shri Naqvi said that the record increase of Rs 505 crore in the Budget of Minority Affairs Ministry for 2018-19 proves that inclusive growth is the priority of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led Government. Last year, the ministry's budget was Rs 4195 crore, which has now been increased to Rs 4700 crore. This increase will be helpful in socio-economic-educational empowerment of Minorities especially in effective implementation of programmes aimed at educational development of girls.

Shri Naqvi said that this increase in the Budget of Minority Affairs Ministry will also help in benefitting more and more needy people through various schemes of socio-economic-educational empowerment and skill development.

Shri Naqvi said that more than 65 per cent of the previous budget was spent on the educational empowerment and employment oriented skill development of the minorities. More than 45 lakh people have been benefited from this. In the budget of 2018-19, more money will be spend on these programmes.

Shri Naqvi said that after the increase in Minority Affairs Ministry’s budget, he, in a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry, instructed to prepare a framework so that the benefits of the increased budget reach the needy.

Shri Naqvi said that this year, the emphasis of Minority Affairs Ministry will be on the educational empowerment of girls. The increase in budget will be helpful in effective implementation of various schemes being run for girls and women of minority groups such as "Begum Hazrat Mahal Girls Scholarship" and "Nai Roshni”. Besides this, a large number of girls are also getting the benefit of other schemes such as “Seekho aur Kamao’, "Nai Manzil”, "Gharib Nawaz Skill Development Scheme”.

Shri Naqvi said that due to the Modi government's policy of "Empowerment without Appeasement" and "Development with Dignity", today the poor, the weaker sections and the minorities are also becoming equal partners of the development process.

Shri Naqvi said that during the last 3 years, about 2 crore 42 lakh Minority students have been provided various scholarships. This year, more than 1.5 crore students have applied for pre-matric, post-matric, merit-cum-means and other various scholarships given by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. More than 3 lakh applications have been received for “Begum Hazrat Mahal Girls Scholarship”.
