New Delhi, 05 October, 2015: Union Minister of State for Parliamentary & Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that we have to protect welfare and concerns of Minorities of the country from becoming a victim of “narrow political interests”.

Speaking at “Jashn-e-Usttad” programme here, Shri Naqvi said that time has come to stop “exploiting sentiments for votes”- people of the country have repeatedly been giving this message and also lesson to “self-proclaimed champions of secularism”.

Shri Naqvi said that it is responsibility of all of us to protect security and socio-economic concerns of people of the country especially Minorities and narrow-minded politics should not be allowed to come into the way of fulfilling this responsibility.

Shri Naqvi said that the Modi Government has been working with honesty for development of Minorities especially Muslims. Some political parties who were master in political exploitation of Minorities are not able to digest our Government’s commitment to development of all.

Shri Naqvi said that the Central Government is moving ahead with commitment of inclusive growth under strong leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi so that progress of every section, every person is ensured irrespective of his religion. India’s unity is the strength of progress and if this unity is broken then it will destroy fabric of development.

Shri Naqvi said that the Modi Government is working with commitment to good governance. No obstacle in the path of good governance and development will be able to successful. We can’t compromise with safety and harmony of the country. We believe in politics of development, positive politics. We condemn “divisive politics” which creates confrontation in the society.

Shri Naqvi said that after coming to power, the Modi Government has taken several steps for over-all development of underprivileged, poor sections including Minorities. “Usttad” scheme is one of the important measures taken for welfare of the minorities’ especially Muslim community.

“Usttad” scheme will be helpful in providing a platform to publicize and showcase traditional skills, arts and crafts of Minority communities. This initiative will provide a broad market for arts and crafts of minorities.

Shri Naqvi said that the programmes meant for welfare of Minorities, started during last about 16 months, are now yielding results. We want to provide benefits of these schemes directly to Minorities.
