Chandigarh, 08th November 2017:Salient points of my press conference on the occasion of #AntiBlackMoneyDay in Chandigarh today.

Union Minister and senior BJP leader Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that had the Government-led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi been indulged in “vendetta politics”, many top leaders of the Congress would now have been in jail.

Addressing a press conference on the occasion of "Anti Black Money Day”, organized at the completion of one year of demonetisation, at Chandigarh, Shri Naqvi said that the Congress conspired against Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the then Gujarat Chief Minister; BJP president Shri Amit Shah and other leaders by misusing every investigation agency. The way atrocities were heaped on Shri Narendra Modi and other leaders during 10 years rule of the Congress, if we had to avenge that, many members of the Congress’ “super family” would not be roaming free.

Shri Naqvi said that the investigation agencies are investigating the corruption cases and scams that took place during the earlier regime and the law will take its own course.

Shri Naqvi said that the Modi Government believes in “politics of reform” and not “politics of revenge”. During the last three years of our Government, we have worked with “Rashtraneeti” of “Reform, Perform and Transform”. Shri Naqvi said that the NDA government has given full freedom to all the investigating agencies so that they can do their job without any pressure or political interference with absolute transparency. But during the Congress regime, the CBI and other investigating agencies had been misused to harass political opponents.

Shri Naqvi said that the Congress cannot escape the action against corruption by calling it “vendetta politics”. The negative agenda of the Congress cannot dominate our development agenda. Today the "black day" is being observed by the Congress and its allies. The Congress and its allies are spreading misconceptions about demonetisation. But they will not succeed in their conspiracy.

Today the people of the country have understood that demonetisation is a decisive fight against corruption and black money. One year has been passed since the demonetisation and our Government’s decision has proved to be right and successful. The people of the country supported our Government in the fight against corruption even after facing some problems.

Shri Naqvi said that on 08th November, 2016, the Central Government had announced that currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 ceased to be legal tender. It was a revolutionary step to crack a whip against corruption and black money, fight counterfeit currency in circulation, unearthing black money and hitting hard at the financial backbone of funding for terrorism and Naxalism.

Shri Naqvi said that today the entire world has recognised strength of India’s economy. The country has become one of the safest destination for investment. Demonetisation has played a crucial role in this regard. After demonetisation drive, about 57 lakh new income tax payers have been added. From April to October this year, record 3.78 crore returns have been filed by the people and companies. It was 3.21 crore during the same period last year. A record 6.85 crore tax payers have been registered on e-filing website of Income Tax Department. There has been a 75 percent decline in stone pelting and terror incidents in Kashmir and 20 per cent decline in Naxal activities in the country.

Shri Naqvi said that there is a war going on between those who are trying to derail the development process and those who are working with commitment to the country’s progress and prosperity.
